Northeast Credit Union & Holy Rosary Credit Union Collaborate this Holiday Season with Joint Fundraising Effort

December 14, 2015

Rochester, NH – The Homeless Center for Strafford County is getting support this holiday from two local credit unions who have joined together in hopes of doubling fundraising efforts and community awareness. Northeast Credit Union (NECU) and Holy Rosary Credit Union (HRCU) are collaborating to restock food supplies and provide gifts for families in need this holiday season. In a joint donation, both credit unions donated $1,000 each, plus gifts for families and individuals at the shelter. The Homeless Center for Strafford County (HCSC) is a seasonal emergency shelter for children and families located in Rochester, N.H.

"We are very fortunate to have community support from Northeast Credit Union and Holy Rosary Credit Union," said Susan Ford, Executive Director of HCSC. "We are very thankful for the overwhelming amount of donations from both organizations' employees, volunteers and members. The holidays can be very hard for families in transition, especially for parents – but knowing their children will have gifts this holiday season will make it a little bit easier. These donations are so meaningful and we are very grateful for everyone's generosity."

"This collective effort goes beyond writing a check," said Timothy Collia, NECU President & CEO. "Employees of both credit unions put their own generosity and kindness into each gift they personally bought and wrapped. We are so proud to be delivering these presents on behalf of our credit union employees."

"This joint effort really says a lot about the credit union philosophy," said Brian Hughes, President & CEO of HRCU. "We both give back to the community, but doing it together in such a meaningful way as this really highlights our mission of people helping people. We are very thankful to our credit union employees, volunteers and members who come together to provide such necessary donations."

If you would also like to make a donation to the Homeless Center, Ford encourages you to consider the following:

$20 gas card will help fuel a family's car for a week
$40 will pay for 4 prescriptions for sick individuals
$50 will buy a meal for the entire Shelter which consists of 20+ people
$100 pays from the transportation shuttle to and from the shelter for a whole week for residents without vehicles
