All is Fair and Fun
Fall means back-to-school, orange and yellow leaves that knock your socks off, and State Fairs. Here are some of the best in the area. (Can’t you just taste that fried dough now!)
The Hopkinton State Fair in Contoocook, NH is a Labor Day tradition. Featuring livestock shows and pulling competitions, a demolition derby, equine experiences, a rodeo, a midway and lots of fair food, this is some of the most fun you can have in New Hampshire!
Visit: August 30th – September 3rd, 2019
The Eastern States Exposition (The Big E), located in West Springfield MA, this is a big one, alright! Over a million people attend this 17-day long fair, which features the best in agriculture, exhibits and entertainment. For more than eight decades, The Big E has drawn people from all over the Northeastern United States. Between Circus Spectacular, the Midway, an abundance of rides, the Car Show, the many agricultural and livestock competitions and the numerous concerts and parades, and of course, tantalizing food, you will not run out of things to do at The Big E. There are even butter sculptures!

The Tunbridge World’s Fair is in Tunbridge, VT and boasts agriclture, harness racing, an antique tractor pull, a beer and wine garden, entertainment, and rides galore. This fair began back in 1880 and always begins 10 days after Labor Day.

The Durham Fair, Located in its namesake, Durham, CT, It offers a great combination of agriculture, food, live entertainment and rides. Big name bands are known to play here and if you go, you’ll be enjoying one of the largest fairs in North America, which is managed entirely by volunteers.

The Fryeburg Fair in Fryeburg, ME is the largest fair in the state of Maine. From humble beginnings in 1851, the fair has grown to be 185 acres and has over 100 buildings. The fun starts in late September and hosts over 3,000 animals, including Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic, during the first week of October. From Specialty foods to crafts, entertainment and rides, mark this one down in your calendar.
