We've received multiple reports of Northeast Members receiving a text message stating there was suspicious activity on their account and to respond if the member didn’t make the transaction. Once the member responds, a spoofed call is made from fraudsters pretending to be the Northeast CU Fraud Team. During the call, the member is asked to provide their personal information (i.e. account number, Digital Banking username & password, and Secure Access Codes from NECU) in order to "protect" their account.
If you receive a suspicious text or call from someone claiming to be from Northeast Credit Union, ignore and/or hang up. If you're unsure of if the text or call is legitimate or not, please call us directly at 888-436-1847.
Remember Northeast Credit Union or any financial institution will NEVER text, call or email asking you for usernames, passwords or Secure Access Codes.
If you have any questions, concerns or believe you may have fallen victim to fraud, please contact our Member Services Team (Mon-Fri 9a-5p, Sat 9a-12pm) by sending a message through Digital Banking or by calling us at 888-436-1847.
