Northeast Credit Union Partners with the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth to Support Local Food Banks

Northeast Credit Union is pleased to partner with the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth for Restaurant Week, a time to celebrate the amazing cuisine offered in the greater Portsmouth area. For every Restaurant Week meal purchased during the ten-day event November 3 - 12, Northeast will donate five dollars toward food insecurity initiatives in New Hampshire and Maine.

The credit union chose Gather, a Portsmouth-based organization serving Seacoast residents experiencing hunger by providing nutritious food through innovative distribution programs, and Footprints Food Pantry which exists to reduce the impact of hunger in the communities of Kittery and Eliot, Maine as the recipients of the funds raised. "We see this as an exciting and meaningful way to share our mission to enrich and nourish the lives of others with our community members. We’re thrilled to work with Gather and Footprints to have proceeds from Restaurant Week support families in both Maine and New Hampshire." said Chris Parker, President & Chief Executive Officer at Northeast.

When told of the partnership, Megan Shapiro Ross of Footprints said she is, “So encouraged by the new mission statement of Northeast Credit Union and so grateful for their dedication to nourishing the lives of others and to their focus on the critical issues of food insecurity, affordable housing, and education. When we, as a community, work together, that is when real impact will happen. Footprints is excited to partner with Northeast Credit Union to be a part of that impact.” Anne Hayes, Executive Director of Gather, echoed her sentiments, "We at Gather are so grateful for the support that many of our local restaurants provide and for the continued support of Northeast Credit Union on many fronts. NECU has championed Gather's work through sponsorships of our Fill the Hall and Pack the House events, by holding food drives at local branches every month since June, and now by bringing attention to Gather's efforts to end hunger in the Greater Seacoast through their Restaurant Week initiative. We can't thank NECU enough for being such a strong community partner."
