Protect Your Accounts With Strong Passwords

Protect Your Accounts With Strong Passwords

Passwords are the key to almost everything we do online. That’s why it’s so important to create them as secure as possible. With so many online passwords to keep up with these days, memorizing them all is not possible for most.

Fortunately, we know a few easy ways that can help you create secure passwords to keep hackers out of your accounts.

Use these password best practices to help protect your accounts:

1. Make your passwords strong. Strong and unique passwords make it significantly more difficult for hackers to break into your accounts. Strong passwords are considered over 8 characters in length and made up of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

2. Use different passwords for different accounts. It can be tempting to use the same password for every account, so we don’t forget them. However, this makes it easier for hackers to break into a multitude of accounts.

3. Never reveal your passwords to others. Your login credentials are your first line of defense in protecting your information. Nobody needs to know them but you. If someone is asking for your password, it’s probably a scam.

4. Change passwords regularly. Changing passwords regularly is a good practice to help outwit hackers.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the extra security measures we offer through Online Banking, including account alerts and notifications as well as multi-factor authentication as an added layer of protection for all your Northeast Credit Union accounts.
