When you sit down to manage your accounts from your computer, you want to feel confident that your personal financial information is secure.  To better protect your privacy, Northeast Credit Union has added a layer of security to our CyberTel online banking service.  This extra step ensures that you are actually logging on to NECU's  online banking website.


How It Works...


All
members who have a CyberTel online banking account will be asked to choose a Personal eStamp Image, known only to you.  (This "Personal eStamp Image" may be a picture of an animal, sports object, or other item -- you can choose from a variety of images.)


Each time you log onto CyberTel, this Personal eStamp Image will appear for you verification.  You will set up a Personal eStamp Phrase that goes along with the image pictured (more on how you'll do that below).  Once you validate that the image pictured is the one you have chosen, you can feel confident that you're logging onto Northeast Credit Union's CyberTel system.


It only takes a few minutes to create your Personal eStamp Image verification.  It's easy!  These are the steps you'll take after you log on to CyberTel (and if you haven't signed up for access, contact a Member Service Representative at 1.888.436.1847 to obtain a temporay password):


1. Register a "username."

When prompted by the CyberTel system, new users should click on "New Users, Click Here".



Username Registration: Your username can be 8 to 15 characters in length.  It must start with a letter and can consist of only letters and numbers; special characters like "*" (asterick) and "-" (hypen) cannot be used.  For each Account Number you have, you will need to select a unique "username."  You will be asked for you account number (enter your member number), the password that was emailed to you (call 1.888.436.1847 if you do not have one) and then create your username.



2. Select a Personal Image.

Once you have successfully registered your username, you will then be asked to choose an Personal eStamp Image and corresponding Personal eStamp Phrase. For example, if you choose an image of a horse, your corresponding phrase may be "derby winner", or if you choose an image of a football, your corresponding phrase may be "Monday night".






Each time you log on to CyberTel, you will enter your "username" and then your Personal eStamp Image will be displayed. Upon verifying that the image and phrase presented to you is the one you have selected, you will then be asked to enter your Password. If you are presented with an image other than the one you selected, sign out and try again or please contact Northeast Credit Union Member Service at 1.888.436.1847.



3. Additional Security -- Personal Challenge Questions
In order to make your online banking experience as secure as possible, NECU has implemented a security feature that watches for uncharacteristic or unusual behavior involving your account.

 

To make sure that it is YOU logging on to your account, you will be asked to set up a list of "Personal Challenge" questions and answers when you sign up for CyberTel online banking access or within 30 days of signup. You will have a choice of questions that you can answer (things about yourself that are hard for strangers to guess).  For each challenge question box, click on the down arrow and select your question. In the box below the question, type in your answer. The answers are not case sensitive. You must select 3 different questions and answer them differently.



 

If CyberTel detects a log-on attempt from a computer you do not normally log on from -- or anything else out of the ordinary -- the system will ask you to verify your identity by posing one or two of your personal challenge questions. You will need to answer them correctly before you can move on.
